Whether you are new in town or a local, living the Barcelona lifestyle is easier with the help of a few apps that can help you get set up quickly to living and working in the city. Our favorites cover everything from getting around to getting a great haircut. So park yourself at one of the many free wifi spots in the city and download these.

The Best Apps For Barcelona Living

OneFit
helps you find a place to work out anywhere and everywhere, offering classes for everything from yoga to surfing. You just pay for one membership and can access hundreds of different gyms. Of all the apps out there, we love this one for mixing up workouts and checking out new fitness locations around the city. You can also share workouts with your friends so you can all go together.

Wallapop provides a one-stop-shop for buying and selling second hand items in Barcelona, sort of an app equivalent of Craigslist. You can find everything from furniture and household items to cars. The map feature makes it easy to find items that are your area, a bonus if you’re planning on bringing home your new purchase on foot or via public transportation.

Croissant connects you to Barcelona’s thriving startup and freelancing community, which means that great coworking spots are always in demand. Croissant lets you pick from coworking spots all over the city whenever you need them, making it any remote worker’s new best friend. If you have your own business, you can also work with plans to give your employees access to coworking spaces.

HappyCow makes vegan and vegetarian options in Barcelona easier to find. HappyCow features an extensive directory of restaurants that offer meat-free food, which you can filter by “vegan”, “vegetarian” or “veg-options.” Even if you’re not a vegetarian yourself, use the app to discover new places to try.

Badi brings Tinder-style swiping to finding rooms or roommates. Each room comes with a short profile of your potential roomies with photos and descriptions of what they’re like to see right away if you think you’ll click. As an added bonus, the app includes a chat function, which keeps all your potential roommate messages in one place (and not invading your Whatsapp).

Fever is the latest of the myriad apps for finding events happening in your city. It lets you purchase paperless tickets instantly. Simply select the types of events you are interested in and get a curated list of those events in your feed. You can share events with friends and follow friends in your city to see what events they are going to as well.

Treatwell takes care of all things beauty-related, including hair, nails, waxing and hair removal, facial treatments, and massages. Their directory has plenty of filters to find the exact treatment you want. Plus, the huge number of user reviews mean you can quickly weed out sub-par salons.

DogBuddy knows how hard it can be to find someone you trust to look after your beloved furry family member. This app helps you find a fellow dog lover to take care of your perrito, including dog sitters, dog walkers, and dog day care. As a nice added bonus, your sitter will send you photos and GPS updates of your dog’s day so you know they’re in good hands.

TopDoctors doesn’t want you to mess around when it comes to healthcare and finding a doctor. TopDoctors features listings for doctors of all types and lets you schedule appointments with them right within the app. It even lets you select doctors who speak English, which can definitely come in handy if you are still learning Spanish.

Taxi Ecològic is your environmentally friendly way to get around Barcelona. All of the cars are guaranteed to be hybrid or electric, and as a bonus, offer free WiFi. It is a green alternative for when you miss your bus or just don’t feel like dealing with mass transit on a rainy day.

LaLalab lets you quickly move your best photos out of your phone and into your home. When you’re living an exciting life abroad, you’ll certainly take hundreds, if not thousands, of photos. LaLaLab is one of our favorite ways to print photos on the fly because you can do it all from your phone. And it’s not just regular prints – you can also order framed photos to decorate your new piso, postcards, magnets, posters, phonebooks, calendars, and more.

TooGoodToGo
lets you buy up food leftover at the end of the day from supermarkets, bakeries, and restaurants at a reduced price. You just pick the place you want, and you’ll be given a time to pick up your purchase. Because it’s food the places haven’t sold, you can’t choose what exactly you order. Instead, you get a surprise bag – which is all part of the fun.

About Jessica Bowler

Jessica Bowler is a communications specialist who has lived in Barcelona since 2011. She originally came with plans to stay for a year, but as they say, "Barcelona engancha" ("Barcelona hooks you in").
