Went to see a lady about a Babka!
If you’re meeting a friend you haven’t seen in a while, Lady Babka is the perfect spot. It’s that kind of place where meeting a friend feels more like an occasion. Obviously, I’m here for the babka — the original, the chocolate, or the pistachio. The only issue is deciding.
From the moment you see the loaves in the window, it feels like looking into a gallery, each babka lined up like a little masterpiece. Normally, I step inside a place and immediately notice the decor, but not this time. I was immediately summoned to the pastry table filled with rows of croissants, tarts, and other temptations, all displayed perfectly. For a second, you think, maybe one of those instead? But then you remind yourself: you came for the babka. Original, chocolate, pistachio — whichever you choose, it’s fine, you’ll be back for the others.
What I love is that their menu pulls flavors from around the Mediterranean and mixes them with the kind of French pâtisserie that feels indulgent but never heavy. It’s beautiful, delicious, and very Barcelona — and yes, the babka lives up to the hype!
Lady Babka is right at the top of Enric Granados, just at Diagonal, and the best part is, they didn’t stop there. Right across the street, they opened Lady Babka Bistrot, a spot for lunch and dinner where the menu goes well beyond pastries. There are two more Bistrot locations in Turó Park and El Born. I’ve not been, but it’s on the list!
