Dinamo Language Academy Located in El Born near the Arc de Triomf, Dinamo Academy is a smaller school with a lot of charm and some of the most affordable rates in town. Dinamo offers both part-time and intensive courses. Part-time classes meet twice a week and cost €90 a month, while intensive classes meet for two hours Monday-Thursday and cost €200 a month. Dinamo does not charge an enrollment fee and there are no costs for books or materials. In order to enroll, make an appointment via email or phone to meet at the school and take a short verbal test to gauge the right placement for your level of proficiency. The school itself is very chic, with stripped back styling and vintage blackboards. They can even help you get your NIE number if you plan on staying in the city for an extended period of time. A Barcelona Barbershop that Rocks Shellshock, located in the heart of Gracia, is a traditional Barcelona barbershop specializing in classic men’s haircuts. This small corner on Torrent de l’Olla is carefully decorated and full of details that accentuate its small, indie business character. The shop pays homage to the barber’s craft throughout its different periods and cultures, and it leans more toward rock and roll, skate and photography, than the traditional fashion world and hair salons. With only two chairs, clients can be assured of personalized attention for their stylish haircut or hot towel shave. Art, Beauty, Culture Opera is a hair and beauty salon in Barcelona that fuses art, beauty and culture. The salon is located in a contemporary art space and events venue. Head Stylist Giovanni Lavorante devotes his creative talent to capturing authentic beauty, using innovative techniques in hair styling through sculpting, texturing and colouring. Originally from Salerno, Giovanni refined his skills as a hair stylist in Milan, working for 15 years side-by-side with the esteemed Aldo Coppola, a legend in the industry for his unique style, who has worked for Donatella Versace, Naomi Campbell, Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci and Linda Evangelista, among others. Lavorante brings to this Eixample-based hair and beauty salon his specialty — shatush, an innovative coloring technique originally lauched by Aldo Coppola. Shatush takes balayage colouring to the next level; the treatment reacts differently to each client’s hair, resulting in a completely unique look.
