Monica Rodriguez started Gourmet Experience BCN to share her love of the city and her passion for cooking. After taking many classes, including the premier gourmet course at Hoffman, Monica, a teacher and a speech therapist, found the perfect fusion for all of her passions. Each class is designed to entice the gourmet lover’s exquisite palate, while having fun, relaxing, and making new friends. Classes are taught in both Spanish and English so you can learn to cook wonderful food while learning a new language. There are classes for all ages.

Coffee and Playroom for Socializing Cocoa is a family-run coffee shop and playroom that serves healthy breakfasts, brunches, or quick coffees and snacks. All food is made with fresh ingredients. Cocoa provides a family space, created for and by families. This includes an upstairs playroom that is filled with Montessori-inspired toys and educational materials. Recreational activities and workshops are available. The space is also available for family celebrations or events. Cocoa encourages participation, education and creativity in a warm and multicultural environment. Traç Centre D’Expressio Plastica Traç offers adults the opportunity to enjoy art in a quiet and relaxed environment, ideal for developing creativity. They encourage a first-class broad artistic education, which takes into account the person and their context. The Traç courses are designed to inspire students to think, imagine, share, communicate and enjoy the different creative possibilities of art. Traç courses and workshops include: visual arts, painting, sculpture, engraving, and restoration. Additionally, the school organizes conferences, guided tours and other art-related activities. Traç caters to professional artists and craftsmen as well as enthusiasts. Dinamo Language Academy Located in El Born near the Arc de Triomf, Dinamo Academy is a smaller school with a lot of charm and some of the most affordable rates in town. Dinamo offers both part-time and intensive courses. Part-time classes meet twice a week and cost €90 a month, while intensive classes meet for two hours Monday-Thursday and cost €200 a month. Dinamo does not charge an enrollment fee and there are no costs for books or materials. In order to enroll, make an appointment via email or phone to meet at the school and take a short verbal test to gauge the right placement for your level of proficiency. The school itself is very chic, with stripped back styling and vintage blackboards. They can even help you get your NIE number if you plan on staying in the city for an extended period of time.
